Objects: work that lives in a space

Since 1.0.0-beta a space is not only a conversation — it is somewhere work can live. The Objects tab holds things; things hold their own history; and chat can point at a thing, so “the bandsaw” in a conversation is the same bandsaw with the same record.

Things with a history

A machine, a bed of tomatoes, an irrigation pump — each is an object with:

• revisions — what changed about the thing itself;
• tasks — what someone intends to do to it (☑ 0/1 on the card);
• observations — what someone noticed, kept with the object rather than lost in the feed;
• status and tags — in_service, flowering, whatever your work calls its states.

The record stays with the object. A year later, “when did we last service the pump” is not an archaeology dig through chat — it is the pump’s own page.

To make one: Objects → +, name it, give it a type and tags. From any conversation, # to chat links the object into the message you are writing — one tap from the mention back to the thing.

Works, versions, and notes on a timecode

For creative work the shelf goes deeper: releases hold tracks, tracks hold sessions. Every mix you upload is a version that supersedes the last one without erasing it — the lineage stays. ★ marks what everyone is currently listening to, so “the current mix” is a fact of the space, not a guess in someone’s head.

And a note can sit at 2:14, not merely near it: press the timecode button in the note field and your words pin to the moment on the scrubber. “The swell sits much better here” lands exactly where the swell is.

The working rhythm of a band: upload a rough → others listen, pinning notes to seconds → upload v2 → star it → the old mix stays underneath with its comment thread. Nothing is overwritten; the argument about the tail being a touch long survives next to the exact second it argues about.

What this is for

• A workshop or tool library — every tool an object, reservations as tasks, “who has the charger” as an observation with a name on it.
• A studio or label — releases, tracks, versioned mixes, timecoded feedback; premiere when it is ready.
• A greenhouse, a boat, a house — the things you maintain, with instruments (sensors) reporting alongside.

All of it is ordinary sealed content: versions, notes and histories travel like messages, live on the participants’ devices, and never depend on a server being alive. The demo studio and workshop on this page ship as public read-only spaces — open them from the official catalog and look around.
