This release is the second episode of Quiet Instruments: the board carries its own readings over the local network, and the app grows the things a person needs to live with a physical instrument — plug it in with one click, see when something new arrived, end a ghost.
📡 Wi-Fi courier (QI-B1). A provisioned board joins your network, hears your node announce itself, recognises its own space from the hint, dials over TLS and knocks with a signature bound to your node’s certificate. Readings travel up that connection; key rotations and the clock travel down it. USB becomes the rescue road, not the only one: unplug it and the readings keep arriving. The board takes its time from the network (NTP), so a power cut in the hall does not leave it deaf. Laws and the live gate are in ADR-035.
🔌 Plug in, click. The USB stand moved into the app. Open a space, plug a board in, press Connect USB instrument — the node enrolls it, provisions it, and remembers the choice across restarts. Disconnect stops the stand and nothing else.
🆔 Protocol view shows the space id, with a copy button — what a stand, a script or another node needs to name a space.
✦ Something new, said quietly. A space with moments you have not seen since you looked earns one small breathing star beside its name and a faint halo on its glyph. Opening it quiets the star. No badges, no counts, no red.
🧊 Relief. The verbs that carry intent — make a space, enter, discover, signals, invite, the view’s own act — tilt faintly toward you, throw a shadow back and breathe. Kept things, posts and objects wear a spine and lean toward the cursor. Motion respects your reduced-motion setting.
👻 A ghost can be ended. An instrument that stopped speaking — an identity a board minted and abandoned — used to leave a card forever, and “remove” answered unknown instrument. An instrument is a member while it speaks under the current epoch: cards appear with the first reading and leave with the key, on every replica at once.
🕳️ Held, not lost. The space panel now says when moments arrived ahead of what came before them and are waiting: signed, verified, and parked. It is the line that found this release’s deepest bug.
What the board taught us. Its first reboot on a desk exposed that a board never restored its identity (every reboot minted a new one); its first night on a wall wart, that the USB stand claimed delivery to a cable nobody was reading. Both are fixed here and pinned by tests. The release notes say this so nobody has to rediscover it.
What is still not true. A real board publishes into sealed spaces only — plaintext telemetry into a broadcast space is the next episode. The Wi-Fi courier needs 2.4 GHz and keeps the radio awake (~40 mA); a network that filters multicast can name the node statically. Discovery on the Android host still pauses with the screen — a phone in a pocket is not an instrument’s node.
